Brenda Whitson is the Executive Director of Visit Johnson City -  a position she's held since 1998. Whitson recently saw the council through a strategic planning process and subsequent separation from the Chamber of Commerce, into an independent, quasi-government entity. Whitson was named the Tourism Leader of the Year in 2018, currently serves on the HospitalityTN Board of Directors and is actively involved in Play Tennessee Board, Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association, Tennessee Tourism Marketing Sub-Committee and Our Savior Lutheran Church.
